Workshop on Composition

The Secrets of Successful Visual Composition

During this workshop, I will provide beginner artists who wish to create well-balanced and visually appealing artwork, with all the key information they need to get started with confidence. Intermediate-level artists, especially those looking for success in juried shows, will also find this workshop useful. 

Methodology: Brief lectures and demos, and several hands-on exercises.

Time: 9am - 1pm

Location: Slayton House, Wilde Lake, Columbia MD

Fee: On or before Nov 30 - $70, Dec 1 onwards - $80

Principles of Composition

You will be introduced to the key principles of composition, including balance, rythm, and contrasts. 

Practical Techniques

You will learn how to identify the focal area and assemble the main elements of your composition around it with easy-to-remember techniques.  

Common Mistakes to Avoid

You will discover frequently seen compositional mistakes in the artwork of beginner artists and learn how to avoid these in your own work.
